“No, it is not.” Loki shook his head, watching as Rogers tensed. It appeared as though he would strike and immediately he retracted his hand, magical energies coursing through him. However he did not, much to Loki’s misfortune. The Captain desired no conflict between them, yet here he was.

The God of Mischief would tell him only what was prove useful, or what might cause the Avengers to be spurred into action. They were pawns all the same to him and they were playing a game he had been a part of for far too long. What he was indicating was indeed truth and he was certain Rogers was aware that Loki was amassing a group himself.

He would not so boldly take place in the direct conflict, but he would manage. He would give Doom the indication that he was in charge and that Loki was nothing. This was the same for any. So long as they did not destroy each other before the ultimately removed the group of heroes from the equation he would see his plan to completion.

“But I would not see Thor harmed by any other.” Again he averted his gaze, revolted by his own sense of sentiment. The Bifrost immediately came to mind and how he had struck Thor then. Also the top of Stark Tower was another instance where he had been bettered time and time again, lost to that frivolous emotion.

None would fell Thor. That pleasure would be his alone.

Loki took a step back, his expression impassive now, far more serious than before. “They will come for you, that is certain and I have faith in their endeavors, as I do your own in stopping us. I look forward to it.”

” Isn’t that sweet. Protecting your brother. “

Steve scoffed a little. It was well known that Loki was determined to bring about his brother’s end. Thor himself had said this, though the thought had brought him pain. It was surprising to see the contrast between the two; the way Thor seemed hellbent on protecting his brother, while Loki was determined to end the other. Another thing that never sat right with Cap. He continued to stand his ground, waiting for the right moment.

His threats concerned him. They did not shake him, as Loki undoubtably thought they would, but they did concern him. The team was not in the best shape, but they had been working. They had been fighting to get back to their best. And when they were in the field, they would be at their best regardless of the situation.

Besides, the Captain knew the God of Mischief stood in the heart of all these plans. All of the activity they had seen lately, all of the information they had gathered, all of it pointed back to Loki somehow. Something felt wrong, niggling in the back of his mind. Loki would not be saying any of this without reason. The God was not one for warning, not one for assisting his enemies.

Steve needed to go home. To plan. To figure out what their next move should be. Whether they should have a next move until they were sure of what they were facing. He needed to run through it all in his mind. But there was nothing that could make him back down. Not yet.
